Dental implants

Dental implants will make you feel good about yourself again. You will feel healthier, look better and smile naturally. Your speech will be clearer, and your confidence and self-esteem will grow.

The implants are tiny titanium posts, which are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. Your bone bonds with the titanium, and establishes a solid foundation for artificial teeth. Also, implants can help preserve the facial structure; preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.

Today, dental implants are changing the way people live; people are rediscovering oral comfort and regaining the confidence to eat, speak, laugh and enjoy life to the full.

A dental implant can — quite literally— change your life!

No matter what the cause, losing a tooth, or several teeth, can have a dramatic effect of one’s personality, confidence and quality of life.

Now the days of enduring a tooth gap are over.

We can fit a dental implant that will help bring back your confidence and let your natural personality show through. It is safe, quick, and totally risk-free.

So what is a dental implant?

Put simply, a dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is fitted into your jaw so that a replacement tooth or bridge can be fitted. Implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth or for a bridge replacing several teeth. Importantly, implants eliminate the need to anchor replacement teeth to adjacent teeth, making them much more robust and long-lasting.

Why do you recommend dental implants?

We are more than simply preventive or remedial dentistry experts, we are here to make you smile. We recommend dental implants in situations where we know you will really benefit. For example, where your natural appearance will be restored, where we can retain the jaw function and prevent further bone loss, or where there is a risk of a chain reaction causing the possible loss of more (or all) of your teeth.

When could I benefit from a dental implant?

New dentistry technology and techniques have made the use of implants the preferred choice in situations where natural teeth have been lost or severely damaged through disease or accident. The fitting of dental implants is now so popular as a treatment that it is almost commonplace, and can be used in almost all situations where the jaw bone has stopped growing — and there is no upper age limit.

Are dental implants the right solution for me?

While dental implants are very popular and highly effective we make sure they will suit each individual patient through a careful oral examination. It’s also important to remember that other influences (heavy alcohol consumption, smoking, diabetes and other diseases for example) can have an impact on the effectiveness and long life of an implant. Patients who grind their teeth at night also require particular guidance.

There are various methods of dental implant treatments and we carefully assess which one will be the most beneficial for each individual patient.

Will I have a reaction to a dental implant?

Because implant are made from titanium — which is essentially a pure material — living tissue accepts implants readily without any adverse effects. They are biocompatible and have proven to be very effective.

Do I have to replace implants regularly?

Research shows that, although a relatively recent treatment, over 90% of patients have fully-functioning dental implants after 10 years, and many still have 15-year-old implants. If you take undertake regular check-ups and take good care of your implants, you could expect them to last for your lifetime.

What age do I need to be to have dental implants?

There is no upper age limit, and as long as the jawbone has fully developed, implants can be used. The only proviso is that your teeth and gums are healthy before you embark on implant treatment.

What is the procedure associated with dental implants?

Dental implants require minimally invasive treatment and the procedure is generally painless. While there may be some short-term swelling or sensitivity, routinely there is little discomfort. Patients are placed under local anaesthetic during the procedure.

What is the timeframe for dental implants?

The procedure is so well-refined that some patients actually leave the surgery with permanent (or temporary) replacement teeth fitted at the same time as having the implant procedure undertaken. But in most case, it is necessary for the implant to sufficiently bond to the bone before fitting any replacement teeth.

Will I sense that I have dental Implants?

Once the implant, bone and tissue have fully bonded, you will not feel or even remember that you have an implant. Both the titanium implant and the ceramic replacement teeth are biocompatible and fully accepted by natural body tissue.

What does it cost?

That’s a tough question. Every person is different, every situation is different, and every solution is different. So we cannot give you a cost estimate without first undertaking an examination and assessment. Only then will be we able to identify individual needs. Suffice it to say that we keep our prices as low as we can; because we want to see as many smiles as possible!
